WORLD BOXING CHAMPION ENTERS THE RING AS ALBA PARTY CANDIDATE
29th March 2021
What’s in a name?
22nd October 2022Apologies everyone we are behind on the usual timescales but there is a reason.
As you might be aware Ken, our iScot editor, has been dealt a few health knocks recently. He had a mild heart attack and stents fitted in the autumn and then, as luck would have it, he has been recently diagnosed with inoperable slow-growing cancer. This is having a bigger impact on his energy levels these past weeks as he adjusts to the new treatment regimes and therefore it is taking longer than usual to get the iScot issues put together.
Do not fear, Ken will be here to see independence, but this is not an illness that can be recovered from and therefore we have to work alongside it and accept that it does have an impact on our usual ability to produce the magazine in this brutal business climate
The iScot family is committed to fighting the case for independence as a grassroots organisation. We are held together by goodwill and volunteers, but with Ken’s “slowdown” we need to face the reality that we need to bring in some extra hands and for that, we need to increase our income to pay for wages to help with the heavy lifting and supporting our ability to promote “Independence, above Party, Politicians and Personalities”. Our priority is to keep the print version going, yet we are witnessing the effects of 2 years of the worst post-war living conditions which are having an adverse effect on our revenue streams – so much so that we have to ask for urgent support.
We know that everyone is facing the same issues that we are at home and in our business. Quality magazine production is a capital-intensive business. Bills are frequent and increasing for everyone. Westminster’s decisions around Brexit and Covid are impacting us all, so we have been thinking long and hard about what is fair to our current readers as well as what is necessary to ensure the continuance of the magazine.
Our issue 79 P1 cover graphic imagined by phoon@randomscottish history is of the ‘King’s Cave’ used by Robert Bruce and a persevering spider who never gave up. The IVY web encapsulates all that we stand for ‘I’m Voting Yes’ We need to keep going, and with your immediate help, no matter how small, we can continue to reinforce the message that Independence is Normal, and Long Overdue.
Please support us through whatever means you can, including encouraging friends and family to take a look at what we have to offer.
